Steps to Make Delicious Italian Chicken Francese

This classic Italian-American dish is simple to prepare, but if you prepare it for the first time, you can make mistakes. That’s why I have divided the healthy chicken francese recipe into different steps:

Step One

First, take 1 lb chicken fillets and wash them properly. Season the chicken fillets with salt and pepper. Keep it aside in a bowl for a while.

Then take another bowl and whisk one whole large egg with water. Properly coat the whisked eggs on both sides of the chicken fillet. Then apply a coat of flour for extra crispness.

Step Two

Once the preparation is done, you can move toward the cooking step. Heat olive oil and butter in a non-stick pan. Cook chicken fillets in the pan for about 5-7 minutes on both sides. Keep the cooked chicken fillets aside.

Add lemon slices, lemon juice, white wine, and chicken broth to the same pan. Boil the ingredients for about 10 minutes.

Chicken fillets Step2

At last, add cooked chicken to the lemon sauce. Cook everything for five more minutes. Serve and enjoy.

Key Notes:

  • To bring out the best flavors of lemon, bring it to room temperature and carefully roll it on the counter under your palm. This way, the juice loosens up, allowing you to squeeze the lemon properly.
  • If you use frozen chicken, carefully pat it to dry the moisture. If your chicken has moisture, the flour coating will not stick evenly on it. Thus, your chicken won’t be tender inside and crispy outside.
  • Use a meat thermometer for cooking the chicken nicely from the inside.
  • You can replace the chicken broth with vegetable stock to make the sauce.
  • I recommend using Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc white wine you don’t mind drinking.
  • You can add shaved parmesan cheese or finely grated parmesan on top of chicken francese to elevate the overall taste of your dish.
  • You can add fresh herbs, including rosemary, thyme, basil, or tarragon.

What to serve with chicken francese?

The best thing about chicken francese is that it goes with everything. You can serve it with penne, fettuccine, farfalle, or angel hair pasta. Chicken francese also tastes the best with bread twists and breadsticks.

You can also enjoy this classic chicken dish with different veggies like broccoli, fresh salad, green beans, or carrots as side dishes.

How to store leftover chicken francese?

If you have cooked chicken francese in a large amount, don’t throw it away. Instead, follow the refrigeration method for easy and longer storage.

First, transfer the leftover lemon chicken francese to a container and keep it in the fridge. This method keeps the dish fresh for up to four days. To enjoy the refrigerated chicken francese, place the dish in a preheated oven. You can cook it for 10 minutes or until it gets warm.
