Key Tips

  • You can bake the peanut butter cookies till its side starts to change color. Avoid overbaking the cookies, as it will ruin the taste. After you have taken out the cookies, they will continue to bake due to the internal heat.
  • You can add flour to your recipe to get the crunchy texture. But avoid putting it in large quantities, as it can ruin the taste of cookies.
  • Let the hot cookies rest on the baking tray for a while. That’s because freshly baked peanut butter cookies are very soft, but they turn firm in a few minutes.
  • If you wish to make cross-hatch patterns on the cookie, first, dip the fork in sugar. This way, the fork will not stick to the cookies.
  • You can make chewy peanut butter cookies by baking cookies for a long time at a low temperature.

How to store and freeze peanut cookies?

After baking the cookies, keep them in an airtight container and store them in the fridge for 5 days. Try to finish the cookies in a few days to enjoy the best taste. If you wish to refrigerate the peanut butter dough, wrap it in plastic and refrigerate it for up to 3 days.

And if you want to freeze the cookie dough, scoop out small balls and put them on plastic wrap. Press with a fork to create cross-hatch marks.

Freeze the simple peanut butter cookie balls until solid. Put the solid cookie balls into a container to freeze them for up to 3 months.

What’s the best peanut butter to use?

If you want to prepare soft and chewy peanut butter cookies, use salted peanut butter. You don’t necessarily need sweetened peanut butter but if you are using it anyway, add sugar in a less quantity.

Also, if your peanut butter has an oil-heavy top, mix the peanut butter really well, so your cookie doesn’t become very runny. You don’t need to purchase peanut butter from any certain brand to make cookies.

How to use refrigerated cookie dough?

You can refrigerate the dough of soft and chewy peanut butter cookies for up to three days. Before you make cookies from the refrigerated dough, let it rest for a while. It will allow the peanut butter fats to soften up so you can easily work with it.

Should you chill the dough before making cookies?

You don’t have to chill the dough. And even if you wish to chill the cookie dough, the baked cookie will taste the same.

Can I make peanut butter cookie bars with the same dough?

Yes, you can make peanut butter bar cookies with the same dough.
