Equipment
BBQ grill grate
Aluminum foil
Meat thermometer
Ingredients
2
pounds
ground beef
1
tbsp
Kosher sea salt
1
tbsp
Garlic pepper seasoning
Hamburger toppings like lettuce
tomatoes, onions, mayo, etc.)
Instructions
Form ground beef into two 1 pound patties
Season each patty with sea salt and garlic pepper seasoning; set aside
If you haven't already done so, get your campfire going
Use a BBQ grill grate or heat a large flat rock for cooking the burgers; wrap grill grates in foil to prevent flareups if desired.
Place your burgers on the cooking surface
Create an aluminum foil 'tent' over top of the burgers to aid in even cooking
Once you see juice beginning to come out of the top of the burgers, it's time to flip them
Check burgers with a thermometer, place cheese on the burgers once they near the finishing temp for your preference.
Cook your burgers all the way through, then pull them off the grill grate.
Place your burgers on the large sweet roll and top with toppings
Cut and serve!
Notes
For more even cooking, dimple each burger in the center and then place tin foil tent over burgers while on the fire.
