The little energy bites are loaded with nuts and are a perfect make-ahead recipe for breakfasts and snacks. You can serve these healthy balls to your guests because they taste absolutely delicious.

And the best part about this recipe? You only need a bowl to prepare; there is no need for an oven. These easy energy balls have the right amount of protein without requiring you to add protein powder or any other such ingredients.

Another cool thing about the low-carb energy balls recipe is that there are five ingredients, most of which are already in your pantry. I know it’s hard to believe this five ingredients easy protein balls are healthy. They taste more like a desert than a protein bite.

Steps to Prepare Yummy 5 Ingredient Protein Balls

This energy bite recipe is super versatile and super fun to make. You can always add substitutes if you don’t have the exact ingredients that I have used.

The first step to preparing protein balls with dates is to peel and wash a carrot. Then carefully grate and keep it aside in a bowl.

Then add dates, ground almonds, and coconut flakes into the food processor. Combine until the ingredients get fine. Following this, add grated carrot and vanilla extract. Mix the ingredients properly till they combine nicely.

Next, take a tray and put the combined ingredients on it. Form small bite-sized balls with your hands and coat them with coconut flakes for a unique taste.

Key Notes:

  • If you don’t want to use carrots, the best substitute is oats because they are inexpensive, versatile, and filling. They contain fiber and protein, making the energy balls even healthier.
  • To bind the ingredients together, you can use creamy peanut butter. It adds healthy fats, making the energy balls sustaining and delicious. But if you have a peanut allergy, you can use any other kind of nut butter.
  • You can add extra sweetness to your healthy protein balls with honey or pure maple syrup instead of dates. When you use honey or similar substitutes, you don’t need a food processor to bring together the ingredients.
  • If the healthy energy balls mix feels dry, you can use water to add extra moisture. You can even add chocolate chips to add extra flavors and a bite to the energy balls.
  • Add a little sea salt to enhance the overall flavors of your energy balls.

How to Store Energy Balls

If you have prepared energy balls in a larger quantity, store them in an airtight container. It’s better to use a stasher bag or a glass container so the moisture does not ruin the taste of low-calorie energy balls.

You can either refrigerate or freeze the energy balls. In the freezer, your dish will last for about 3 months. While in the refrigerator, it will last for 2-3 weeks.
