This video has been spreading like wild fire, or “going viral” I guess would be the proper internet term. Shucking corn after microwaving it (cooking it in the microwave) seems to be all the rave. Supposedly, the corn on the cob comes out of the husk clean as a whistle and free from all those annoying hairs that are a pain in the butt.
First of all, I’m not sure why it’s gone viral now. It’s July. Corn is not in season. Who’s eating corn in July? I know, it’s popular in the summertime, but summertime corn usually doesn’t have much flavor and certainly isn’t as good as corn harvested in the fall.
Second of all, who are all these people cooking corn in the microwave during summer? Doh. Seems like the grill would be a better option. I wonder if this shucking action could be done after grilling corn…hmm I’ll have to try it out. Wait, did you just talk me into buying corn before harvest season? Maybe.
