Summer Memories

When I was younger, my family used to fire up the barbecue every chance we got. From our grill at home to the grill at the beach. There was always charcoal burning! Making A&W Root Beer chicken on the grill… Now that’s a fun memory to keep!

Every weekend during the summer, and even some weeknights, we could be found at the beach. Sometimes we’d grill at the beach on those park BBQ setups, you know what I’m talking about. A pole stuck in the ground with a grill sitting on top of it…

Grill at the park. Cast iron park grill.

However, most of the time though, after the beach we’d go home to play games in the yard while dad got the grill going.

Grilling Chicken

Preheat your grill to 400° F and pat your chicken drumsticks dry. Grill for 30-35 minutes, flipping every 5 minutes while maintaining 400 degrees F. Baste with the BBQ sauce during the last 10 minutes to get a little char on them. Chicken legs will be perfect when they hit 185° F internal temperature. Remove from the grill and slather with a little more sauce.
