We’ve all heard of the pre-wedding jitters, but we never talk about pre-wedding travel! There’s a lot of road tripping that goes into planning and finalizing plans for a wedding. Oh yea, and in case you haven’t already heard — I’m getting hitched!

Katie and I are tying the knot this year and that means we’ll be on the road a lot this summer. We’re travelling for everything from our engagement photo shoot to meeting with various vendors and getting everything in order before the big day!

Summer Road Trip Wedding Preparation

Our first couple of trips out to the wedding venue was to lock things in and get everything scheduled. It’s about an hour drive for us, but is such a wonderful location. It’s worth the drive!

From meal planning to planning our wedding day timeline, we packed a lot into our first couple of meetings with our event coordinator. Did I tell you, we are getting hitched at a fun and unique location? It’s an active greenhouse behind a little quaint Italian Farmhouse tucked away in the white mountains of New Hampshire! We’ll be married outdoors on the lawn and have our cocktail hour in the greenhouse!

Today I’m giving a big shout out to the Walmart Automotive Care Center here because they’ve saved my butt more than once! From limping in on a flat tire a few years ago to an oil change and other regular maintenance when my car is due – they’ve done it all!

Our wedding venue is just a few miles from Walmart, so it’s really easy and convenient to swing in and get everything we need to keep us road tripping all summer long.

This time we’re swinging in to get a quick oil change with Pennzoil Platinum®: Full Synthetic Motor Oil with PurePlusâ„¢ Technology. The “do it for me” service with Pennzoil at Walmart means I don’t have to change the oil myself! Like I have time to DIY it this summer anyway! If I’m not working, I’m working on finalizing plans for our wedding, so we’ll take advantage of the convenience of letting the pit crew handle our oil change this time around.

Pennzoil Oil Change at Walmart

If your car is at 75k miles or more, you should have your oil changed with Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® on your next trip to Walmart — AND it’s on Rollback for $35.88 from $39.88, that’s $4 off!

Find your Walmart Automotive Care Center location here. The Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® motor oil helps clean out the sludge lesser oils leave behind, while helping to reduce leaks and oil consumption in worn or higher mileage engines.

We’re not quite to the 75k mile mark on our car, that’s why we’re using the Pennzoil Platinum®: Full Synthetic Motor Oil with PurePlusâ„¢ Technology. But, we’re certainly going to hit 75k miles this year with all the pre-wedding travel and running around that we’re doing. We’ll switch it over next time! Check with your Walmart Automotive Care Center specialist to see which Pennzoil product is recommended for your car.

Now that our oil change is done, we’re back on the road! This weekend we’re meeting with our DJ to plan out our song selections, dances, introductions and all that jazz! He’ll also want to see the venues. While we’re having our ceremony outdoors at the Greenhouse…

Our cocktail hour will be an indoor/outdoor event with hors d’oeuvres and drinks… Mind you, this is our first visit to the vendor. There’s obviously no linens or other decoration set up, but you get the idea!

Following cocktail hour, our dinner reception is at a different location. This means the DJ will be setting up in two locations to keep the party moving along smoothly when we go from the greenhouse to the reception hall for dinner, drinks, dancing and cake! …Mmm cake. 🙂

Here’s a photo of the outside patio of the reception hall. It doesn’t have anything to do with meeting our vendors, but I think it’s really cool and will give us some great photo ops in front of that antique carriage!

Anyway, we met with our wedding cake baker last week, we’re meeting with our DJ this weekend, and then we’re off to meet with more vendors in the upcoming weeks! Next stop will be our engagement photos. Katie and I are not the kind of people who love to have our photos taken but it’s about time we get them done by a pro. I think? 🙂

I’ve put together a nice, simple wedding checklist to help you plan your wedding – because let’s face it, it’s a lot to keep track of! There is room next to each vendor on the checklist to take notes, keep track of their names, cost, deposits, remaining balances, and meeting times etc… Trust me, write it all down as it happens!

Stay tuned, we’ve got a lot more wedding shenanigans coming your way soon!

Where are the summer roads taking you?

  1. First off, congrats on the upcoming wedding! I know it’s a busy, busy time, but some of my best memories from that time are actually the wedding planning stage. Seriously! Enjoy it. And good thinking about getting your oil changed at Walmart…wedding planning really does require a lot of driving! Thanks for sharing! #client
