A delicious go-to cocktail is a must have in anyone’s repertoire. I’ve always known that whiskey is my drink of choice, but I’ve never refined my selection and narrowed down my flavor profile. Today, I’m doing just that and sharing a nice drink we’re calling the Spicy Rock Lobster cocktail featuring George Dickel Rye Whiskey!
Before discovering the Whiskey5.com  website where you can discover your flavor match, I made it with Crown Royal, which is fantastic too. Today I’m following my flavor match and trying the George Dickel Rye Whiskey to make my favorite drink.
I first found the Rock Lobster drink about 15 years ago and it’s been my go-to ever since. Whether we’re relaxing at home or hanging out at the pub. It’s a foolproof, classy drink for any occasion!
I discovered that my flavor match is Spicy, so we picked up a bottle of George Dickel Rye Whiskey to try something a little different. A whiskey with peppery spices and hints of vanilla. I’m game, and I’m certainly glad I tried it — it’s my new whiskey of choice!
Today we’re just hanging out at home, making a couple of drinks and having fresh Maine lobsters and steamers. Uhhh, yum…and this cocktail pairs perfectly with lobster and clams if I do say so myself.
To find your flavor match, visit Whiskey5.com. Select the two flavors which best fit your taste, slide the bars below the flavor selections to set the intensity…
…and then click Get Results.
As you can see, my flavor match is Spicy and George Dickel Rye Whiskey is the flavor for me. So go grab your flavor profile and make this drink your own.
Whether your flavor match comes up spicy, smooth, bold, sweet or smoky — this drink will be your new favorite!
Ingredients
- Ice
- 1 oz George Dickel Rye Whiskey
- 0.5 oz raspberry liqueur
- 2 oz cranberry juice
Directions
Grab a whiskey glass, or any glass and add ice.
Pour one ounce of whiskey over the ice.
Add a half ounce of raspberry liqueur over the ice…
Top off with 2 oz of cranberry juice.
I like to skewer a few cranberries for garnish. Completely optional but a nice touch!
Because of the spicy notes, filled with fruitful highlights, hints of vanilla and peppery spices that make up the George Dickel Rye Whiskey, my Rock Lobster is now a Spicy Rock Lobster with a nice flavorful kick. Come along on this vibrant flavor journey and make one for yourself.
I also scored this cool booklet that was sitting there on top of the display at my liquor store. It has a bunch of recipes inside. I’ll be trying the Rye Sazerac soon!
Look for the cool wooden crate display at your local liquor retailer!

I hear you there, Melanie! My wife doesn’t like lobster either. I did manage to enjoy it three times this summer though — and this cocktail is a perfect accompaniment! 🙂
Now I want lobster! 🙂 My husband doesn’t like it, so I rarely have lobster. But these photos are making me crave it. #client
