Life is passing us by and we’re reinventing the holidays each and every year. While traditions are nice, they must first be born. This year we’re celebrating the holidays with friends!
When we’re young we often follow family traditions but we do, ultimately, grow up and must make our own traditions. Sure, we can still participate in traditions passed down from generation to generation. However, once we have our own direction in life, we have an urge to create our own holiday traditions, like holiday meals with friends.
We’re reinventing our holiday traditions and celebrating with a great big Hormel Cure 81 Cherrywood Bone-In Ham on the table, delicious roasted red potatoes, biscuits, and of course great friends! The roasted red potatoes are one of Katie’s awesome dishes for the holidays, I don’t know what it is (probably love!), but she makes this dish and it’s always amazing. She’s nice enough to let me share her recipe with you!
Roasted Red Potatoes Recipe
For this roasted red potato recipe, which by the way fills the house with an amazing aroma, we’ll be using red potatoes, onion, butter, salt, pepper, rosemary and thyme.
We’ll begin with 6 medium red potatoes, wash and then slice them up into quarters or eighths if they’re on the larger side, leave the skin on!
Next we’ll add our potatoes to the roasting pan.
Top the potatoes with ½ chopped onion, pads of butter, salt, pepper, rosemary and thyme. Prepare your ham and get everything ready to go in the oven!
Roast your potato dish in the oven at the same temperature, along side your ham until potatoes are lightly browned on the outside and knife point tender (about 2 hours).
This roasted red potato dish is very easy, but fills the house with an amazing aroma and, to me, smells like the holidays! We love making this dish and it pairs perfectly with Hormel Cure 81 Cherrywood Bone-In Ham.
Hormel Cure 81 Cherrywood Bone-In Ham
This is a delicious ham which is fully cooked and just needs to be reheated in the oven. Follow the instructions on the package. Once you’ve heated the ham according to the instructions, don’t forget to bump the temp up on the oven and add the included glaze!
Once everything is prepared, it’s time to feast!
The Hormel Cure 81 Cherrywood Bone-In Ham is our go-to main dish option for the holidays, like Christmas and Thanksgiving. It’s easy to prepare and Hormel always gives us a premium ham that gets awesome reviews at our house. Finding Hormel Cure 81 Cherrywood Bone-In Ham is easy as it’s readily available at Walmart, where we shop for our holiday fixings!
To prepare the ham, simply follow the instructions on the package! The ham is pre-cooked, so it doesn’t take forever to prepare. I like to serve our ham with pineapple rings, a few cherries and of course roasted potatoes!
What new holiday traditions are you celebrating this year?
