We’re moving towards spring and now is either time to push through, or break your new years resolution. Are you going to walk away from all the hard work you’ve done so far, or are you going to stay the course and stay on track?
For me, I’m staying the course! We’re planning a trip to New Orleans in May, and I’m planning on being in a little bit better shape than I am now. Not only am I staying the course, I plan to kick up my workout regiment and eat a little bit better than I have been. This frozen yogurt recipe is a good way to keep moving forward and indulge along the way. Any variety of DOVE® Fruit and Nut will work well with this peanut butter and banana froyo, so pick your favorite flavors!
This month you can find the DOVE® Fruit and Nut right at Walmart on a special in-store display! The flavors I got are…
- DOVE® Dark Chocolate Strawberry & Cocoa Almond
- DOVE® Dark Chocolate Blueberry & Vanilla Cashew
- DOVE® Dark Chocolate Raspberry & Honey Roasted Almond
Eating better is not always easy. You know I have a sweet tooth and love to whip up delicious desserts. Though I like my sweets, I do have the need to keep a few options available that are better for me, while I continue to work on myself. This is where peanut butter banana frozen yogurt comes in. It’s simple to make, better for me, and it tastes great too!
Peanut Butter & Banana Frozen Yogurt
In this recipe, there’s only a few ingredients. Bananas, peanut butter, plain yogurt, vanilla extract, and I top mine with DOVE® Dark Chocolate Strawberry & Cocoa Almond, which are strawberry flavored cranberries coated in dark chocolate and almonds dusted with cocoa! Delish! My second choice for topping would be the DOVE® Roasted Almonds covered in Milk Chocolate. Either way, this froyo is so easy to make, you’re going to want to make it all the time!
We’ll prepare to make our peanut butter and banana froyo by slicing bananas into 1/2 inch pieces and placing them in the freezer to chill while you gather up your other ingredients. The bananas don’t need to chill too long, the freezing process comes after everything is mixed together.
Place the peanut butter, bananas, yogurt, and vanilla extract into your food processor, or blender will work too, and let the food processor do the work! Give it a spin until it’s smooth, wiping the sides down with a spatula and mixing it a few times with the spoon to get everything well combined.
Once you have everything well combined, spread the mixture on a piece of parchment paper which is situated on a plate. Spreading the yogurt onto parchment, about a quarter to a half inch thick. This will allow you to cut the froyo into bars and place them perfectly onto your pastry! Top your mixture with DOVE® Fruit and Nut and place in freezer for an hour or until frozen.
While you wait for your froyo to fro, it’s time to get your pastry puffs going. Follow the instructions on the package of frozen pastry puffs to make a simple rectangle puff. (Thaw and bake according to package).
Now frozen, cut your frozen yogurt into rectangles to match your puffs.
Split the pastry puff in half and place a slice of frozen yogurt on the top of the bottom side of the pastry. Then, top with strawberries and even a dash of fat free whipped topping if you wish.
