Frozen Skittles® Milk Punch

Today I’m creating a delicious dessert drink, which is a spin-off of a dessert we had while we were in New Orleans. I’m making a Frozen Skittles® Milk Punch. Using the America Mix red, white and blue Skittles® candies, I’m making a fun frozen dessert punch recipe that the whole family can enjoy!

As you all know, we visited New Orleans recently and one of the highlights from our vacation was dinner on Bourbon Street at Bourbon House. Our waiter highly suggested we try the Frozen Bourbon Milk Punch, so we got one with our dessert –  and it was fantastic! The Frozen Bourbon Milk Punch inspired me to get creative and come up with a family friendly dessert drink with an awesome flavor but without the alcohol.

The most important thing to remember is to not limit yourself, you can use any Skittles® variety you wish. This doesn’t need to be a patriotic dessert recipe with red, white and blue Skittles® candies, use whichever Skittles® flavors you like! This Frozen Skittles® Milk Punch is a tasty summer dessert and it’s easy to make, too!

Begin by separating your Skittles® by color and then run them through the blender. Start your blender on chop, then hit the liquefy button to finish them off. Warning: don’t blend your Skittles® candies until you’re ready to make your punch. The stickiness of the Skittles® will turn the granules into a solid lump if you try to prepare this ahead of time – don’t ask me how I know! 😛

Note: I blended more Skittles® than the recipe calls for (for photographic purposes), you don’t need a whole lot – just a few small handfuls. Make sure you have about 1/4 cup of your main Skittles® flavor, which will go in the drink. See the recipe below.

It doesn’t take a long time to blend your drink together. Simply toss in the ice cream, milk, simple syrup and Skittles® granules. A quick spin in the blender on the “mix” setting for 10 to 20 seconds will give it a nice consistency. Don’t forget to top your drink with a few pinches of different color Skittles® granules!

Simple Syrup

How do you make simple syrup? Heat 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar until dissolved – I bring mine to a quick boil and stir frequently throughout the process. Cool to room temperature before using. To keep the left overs, store in the refrigerator for up to three weeks in an air tight container.
