How to Make Holiday Cake Donuts

Christmas holiday desserts are always a fun and festive way to kick off the holiday season. Today, we’re making holiday cake donuts! These delicious treats are the perfect way to celebrate with bright colours and sweet taste.

I’ve always enjoyed Christmas because of all the treats. It’s the one time of year where I give myself a hall pass to indulge on all the sweet treats at parties. From pastries to candies to chocolate galore, I can’t help myself! So, I’ve joined the fun with this recipe.

Each year we decorate the house and while we do so, we like to listen to Christmas music to get us in the mood. What better way to get in the holiday spirit than with fun decorative desserts, Christmas decorations, and holiday music?!

I certainly need a mood-boost this year, too—I feel like a scrooge. Maybe these Christmas wreath donuts will help me get in the holiday spirit! This recipe is fairly easy to make with ingredients you can find at your local grocery store.

Easy Holiday Cake Donut Recipe

So, what is a cake donut?

A cake donut is a donut made of cake mix! Instead of making the batter from complete scratch, we’re using the Pillsbury Funfetti® Holiday Cake Mix. This makes the recipe easier to make with less ingredients and less time. All you have to do is follow the instructions on the cake mix and pour the batter into aDonut Pan. The donut pan will make it easier to form the shape of a donut.

For this recipe we’re using Pillsbury Funfetti® Holiday Cake Mix, M&M’s® Holiday Milk Chocolate, and Pillsbury Funfetti® Holiday Vanilla Flavored Frosting. These Christmas Wreath Cake Donuts are delicious and will be a hit at your party too!

Christmas Wreath Cake Donuts

Ingredients

• Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Holiday Cake Mix
• 1 egg
• 1/4 cup oil
• 1 cup water
• Frosting:
• Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Holiday Vanilla Flavored Frosting
• M&M’s® Holiday Milk Chocolate and/or Peanut
• 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

• Preheat oven to 350 degrees
• In a bowl, mix all ingredients together
• Spread batter in a donut pan
• Bake for 12-15 minutes or until light golden brown on top (bottom will be darker brown)
• Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes before moving them to a cooling rack
• Repeat until the batter is gone
• Frosting:
• Empty tub into microwave safe bowl
• Add powdered sugar and mix thoroughly, frosting will thicken
• Microwave on high for 20-30 seconds or until frosting is runny
• Decorate with frosting & your favorite holiday M&M’s® to create Christmas wreath donuts!
