M&M’s® Pecan Pie Chocolate Dessert Bars
These pecan pie cookie bars are amazing! A nice thick chocolate cookie layer, topped with a gooey, sugary, caramel pecan topping and a special treat – M&M’s® Pecan Pie candies! When ever there’s a seasonal flavor, like the M&M’s® Pecan Pie, I need to make a tasty recipe with them. Last year I made Fall Harvest Apple Pecan Cookies, this year I’m making chocolate pecan pie bars and praline pecan cookies! #SweetSquad
Chocolate Pecan Pie Cookie Bars
These pecan pie cookie bars are made in two steps, the first step is making the cookie bar crust. Then we’ll make the pecan pie topping. This is perfect for when you don’t have time to make a whole pecan pie, but want to experience the pecan flavor of fall, and even right into the holidays (stock up on M&M’s® Pecan Pie before they’re gone!).
Let’s gather our ingredients and get going on this chocolate pecan pie cookie bars. First, we’ll need our chocolate sandwich cookies, butter, sugar, pecan halves and of course M&M’s® Pecan Pie candies. Get the complete instructions below the tutorial and photos.
Pecan Pie Chocolate Cookie Crust
For the crust, crush sandwich cookies finely with a rolling pin or crushing them with your hands in a large plastic bag. To speed up the process, use a food processor if you wish. I like using good old fashioned human power though – it’s funner! Combine sandwich cookies and melted butter together using a large spoon — stir well.
Prepare a 9×9 baking pan with cooking spray. Press the cookie mixture into the pan. Pack it into the pan very tightly.
Tip: Lightly coat your hand in cooking spray, then pack the crust down tightly. The cooking spray will prevent your hand from sticking to the crust mixture.
Once you have the cookie mixture in the pan, you can move on to the pecan pie topping.
Pecan Pie Cookie Bar Topping
Stir together pecans, sugar and butter in a large sauce pan. Boil over medium-high heat. Then boil for 3 minutes as instructed in the recipe card.
Pour the mixture over the cookie bar crust, spreading the mixture and pecan halves around evenly.
Top with M&M’s® Pecan Pie candies and crushed pretzels.
Immediately bake in the preheated oven for 8 minutes. Cool, cut and serve!

- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Crush sandwich crackers into fine bits.
- Stir together with melted butter, pack tightly into prepared 9x9 baking pan.
- Combine sugar, butter and pecans in a big sauce pan.
- Bring to boil - boil for 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Pour into baking pan over your cookie crust.
- Top with M&M's® Pecan Pie candies and crushed pretzels.
- Bake in oven for 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from oven, cool, cut and enjoy!
To crush cookies, put them in a bag and use your hands to crush them into fine bits.
To press the cookie mixture into the pan, use a little cooking spray on your hand and pack the crust down tightly. The cooking spray prevents the crust from sticking to your hands.
